    Lipbone Redding

    Musician - Singer

About the artist: "You know a musician has it goin’ on when critics just can’t agree on which other more famous artists to liken them to. Such is the case with LIPBONE REDDING" - Jim Reed, Connect Savannah

LIPBONE has consistently wowed audiences nationwide with his original songs, charm, upbeat style and a faux trombone sound you will swear is coming from a recording offstage. (One of the best parts of a LIPBONE REDDING show is watching the newcomers look around for the trombone player that isn't there.)

"His roots and impressive influences have led Redding to become more of a minimalist onstage; yet the entertainment factor has not waned...a raconteur who can also play riffs that will captivate an audience in seconds flat. His moments of falsetto tall-tales are filled with hilarity, too." - Shea Carver, Encore Archives

His remarkable talent for producing the sounds of many brass instruments is featured on his debut release, “Hop the Fence”. However, these feats of artistic dexterity must be appreciated via full-body experience to truly appreciate this performer’s modern spark.

Lipbone has the sly charm of the Southern bluesman, the cool wisdom of a New York folkie, and a creative energy that brings folks together. Time Out New York says, “Lipbone can light up a room when his tidy trio stretches out in a Sly Stone inspired groove.” and New York Press says, “Don’t try to categorize Lipbone Redding’s vocal tricks and treats.” He was also recently featured on NY1 News, which stated, “It's always a festive atmosphere at Jules in the East Village when the Lipbone Orchestra plays.” Lipbone’s partners in crime for Lipbone Orchestra appearances are both veteran players and heavy duty cats Jeff Eyrich on upright bass and Rich Zukor on drums.

Lipbone’s show is an energetic blend of old-school jazz and avant-garde performance pieces. Originally from rural North Carolina, Lipbone Redding first made his presence known on the New York music scene in the late ‘90s as an underground Subway Artist playing for tips and manufacturing his own CD’s. He appeared for several hours nightly on the Downtown ‘F’ platform at the 14th Street station. He has since graduated up to street level but still recalls his nightly visitations from the “Mole People” with fondness.

Lipbone knows high-spirited live performance and brings back that old school standard of trend-setting, heartfelt singers who ooze charisma.
