      van halen rocked greensboro sat night. from the opening w/unchained to the encore jump. 2 hours of all vh classics w/4 new songs off of the new lp. dave even balled out one of the roadies beside the stage at one point which was priceless. worth the admission itself. had my doubts about kool and the gang at first but i have to admit they were good had the crowd on their feet. great show.first time i saw van halen was in 78 in greensboro. they were the opening act for black sabbath so VH and greensboro go back 30 some years.       Just a little pre-show comment. My wife & I won tickets after trying to get tickets earlier but were not able to have the seats we wanted. So here we sit 3 hrs. before show time. I'm reflecting back to a time when my dad carried me to what was called country shindigs at the coliseum and you could actually walk down and meet the performers. I bet that never happens tonite, lol. Getting very excited though to see this legend who has over 250 written compositions under his hat. Amazing artist. Collapse

      The sound for the entire first set was so disappointing. I've seen many shows at the coliseum over the last 35 years, and the first set was the worst. Wish I could get half of my floor ticket price... Expand

      bob hit the stage around 8:45 with roll me away. then trying to live my life w/out you. by now he has the crowd in his hand. he rocked w/ all his hits we all know. the hi-lite of the nite had to be we've got tonight/turn the page. everybody sang along, bic liters flickering throughout. his new single downtown train was well received by the crowd. he took a 5 minute intermission after a 45 min set. then he came out singing nutbush city limits. that had the crowd going. he did alot of the live bullet songs and almost all of the night moves lp along w/ against the wind gems like shining brightly which he never did in concert until this tour. he did 2 encores. first was against the wind/hollywood nites. 2nd was night moves/rock and roll never forgets (he sang the line sweet 16 turned 65 then shook his head like i cant believe im that old!) i know they are recording these shows hopefully we'll get a dvd or cd from them. the opening act was frankie ballard. he did a 30 min set.       Bob put on a great show, was full of energy and played all of the songs you expect to hear at a Seger concert plus a few oldies he said they've never played until this tour. It was my first Seger concert, so I was hoping for a good show, and was not disappointed. Hearing rumours of this possibly being the last tour and with his health concerns in recent years, I thought that I'd better see him while I can. I've attended many a concert in my day and I'm never satisfied with the "coliseum" sound, way too boomy and too much kick drum in the mix, but that aside it was a good time. A much older crowd (as expected) than the venue usually gets, but everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and stood for the entire show. Kudo's to Bob for a great evening of good old rock and roll like it's meant to be played. Collapse
