Triad Youth Jazz Society

Non-profit organization youth organization made up of youth between the ages of 8-18 that are being educated academically as well as musically in the area of jazz music and jazz music theory. Out of this is also a performing group of talented young musicians that are playing the likes of John Coltrane, Miles Davis, and other noted jazz musicians.

    06/13/09	Black Heritage stamp dedication at Triad Jazz Festival Festival Park Black Heritage stamp dedication at Triad Jazz Festival Presented by Triad Youth Jazz Society at Festival Park June 13, 2009 The Triad Youth Jazz Society and the U.S. Postal Service will dedicate the newest entry of the Black Heritage stamp series, the 44-cent commemorative postage stamp featuring Anna Julia Cooper, noted educator, scholar, and civil rights activist in the 19th and 20th centuries. The event will be held during the Third Annual Triad International Jazz Festival, which features live entertainment, jazz and literacy workshops, interactive games for children, food, vendors and more.

Festival Park. Saturday June 13, 2009 This Year's the focus is Kids helping Kids. Part of the proceeds from this event will go to programs that help to eliminate childhood obesity.       This event will honor Greensboro Jazz/Blues Musician, Billy Ransom Hobbs, who dedicated his life to "keeping the music alive!" He taught or encouraged many fine amateur and professional musicians to develop their musical talents and to share their music with the world, just as he did. A portrait of Hobbs by Leo Rucker will be unveiled, a scholarship will be established in his honor, and several of his family members will attend the event. Collapse
