High Point Museum

The High Point Museum collects, preserves, and interprets the history of greater High Point to develop, encourage and foster a shared understanding and appreciation of our community through a knowledge of its past.

Now providing OnCell Audio Tours for its three on-site historic buildings (Haley House, Blacksmith House and the Hoggatt House) and its three off-site historic properties (Little Red Schoolhouse, Mendenhall Meeting House and the Mendenhall Store). . These audio tours can be accessed and serve visitors 24 hours a day. This resource allows visitors to use their cell phones to call (336-289-4072) and select a number corresponding to a building and learn more about it. The only cost is the use of their cell phone minutes.

The Museum will be open to the public Thursday – Saturday 10 am to 4:30 pm and Sunday 1 pm to 4:30 pm. The Historic Park hours will remain the same Saturday 10 am to 4 pm and Sunday 1 pm to 4 pm.

    02/11/12- 02/12/12	Stenciling in the Historical Park High Point Museum and Historical Park Stenciling in the Historical Park Presented by High Point Museum at High Point Museum and Historical Park February 11-February 12, 2012 Stenciling has long been a popular method of decorative painting. Come try your hand painting a keepsake box with stencils. All ages welcome. Cost: $1 per box. Free for members. Drop-in. Limit 2 per person.
    12/10/11- 12/31/12	Meredith's Miniatures High Point Museum Meredith's Miniatures Presented by High Point Museum at High Point Museum December 10, 2011-December 31, 2012 The rooms in this exhibit were created by Meredith Slane Michener, a High Point native, between 1990 and 2005. They represent the bulk of her collection, which totals 35 rooms. Many of the items found in the rooms were created by her. Many were purchased from other artisans and many were “found.” Miniatures are always built to precise scale and these are completed in 1:12. This is one of the largest collections of miniature rooms in the country.

The exhibit examines the history of the relationship between the furniture industry and the people of High Point and offers a unique perspective on the history of furniture manufacturing in our area.

Each participant will receive a completed or almost completed set of moccasins. The moccasins are made of split elk, with an insole of split elk. All tools and materials will be provided during the seminar. Space is limited.
