For those of you who are interested in pole dancing but haven't tried it yet, this will be a great workshop to see what pole dancing is all about. For those of you that have been poling, but are still at a beginner stage, this will be a great workshop to perfect some of your moves. We will be working on the beginner basics including walk(s), basic spin(s), and a few transitions. The price is only $7.00. Openings are limited. You must contact Descending Angels to secure your spot. This is not a walk-in class. Also, please remember the regular rules restrictions: *Absolutely no lotion the day of class. *Poles have a weight limit of 200 pounds. *Classes are not for someone who has bone, muscle or joint problems, high blood pressure or has been pregnant/given birth in the last three months. *Clothing/shoes cannot be worn that have any embellishments (ex. hooks, buckles, studs, etc.) that may come in contact with the pole and scratch it. *Jewelry that may come in contact with the pole needs to be removed prior to class. For this workshop, you may wear regular workout clothes and bare feet. You may want to bring a mat for the cool down stretches. The duration of the workshop may vary from 1 - 1.5 hours. Viewpoints! What is it? It’s a method of accessing your individual and collaborative creativity by manipulating basic concepts around Space and Time. This movement based workshop is fun and useful for artists, business people, actors, and designers of any age. Anyone can participate in this workshop. You do not need a dance background to take this workshop. Each class will build upon the previous class but also explore new and creative ideas. Lady Ravens Dance/Promotion Team for the High Point Ravens Semi-Professional football team, are holding auditions for the 2010 Season.

Come out for an evening of live Jazz by Saxophonist Tony Chambers and enjoy a full course meal. (included in ticket price). Also performing Douglas Willett.

As the capstone to her MFA, Amanda Diorio has designed a concert, “Re:Forms,” that fuses jazz, contemporary and hip-hop styles. With a cast of 45 from all walks of life, it also blends the different elements of the North Carolina dance community.

The Carolina Heartland chapter of USA Dance will promote two health benefits when it holds its sixth annual Black Tie Ball on Saturday, March 27, at the Four Seasons Koury Convention Center, in Greensboro, NC. The theme this year, "Puttin' on the Ritz,." features black tie and pink boas. Besides dinner and dancing from 6:15 - 11 pm, an art show and raffle are planned. Because of the benefits derived from ballroom dancing and early breast cancer tests, the chapter has teamed with Friends for an Earlier Breast Cancer Test® to promote a twin message for all ages. Working closely with the Friends® organization, members are selling sponsor packages ranging from $250 to $2,500, all designated for Friends® cancer research. Tickets for the dinner-dance are $55 until March 20 with proceeds directed to Friends® for ongoing research for the early detection of breast cancer. Publicity for this event is intended to remind the public of the multiple benefits of ballroom dancing from the physical exercise, which promotes balance and agility, to the mental acuity demanded in the execution of a Tango or Paso Doble. There is also the social benefit of interacting with people who share a love of dance. Testimonies from several Greensboro physicians recognize the health benefits, especially for seniors. Dr. Karl Fields, a sports medicine doctor, filmed several Carolina Heartland members dancing for a medical seminar last year.
