    Guilford College’s annual Tournées Festival will screen a series of French films entitled “Colonial Subjects: Films from the French-Speaking World” from Sept. 17-Oct. 30. All screenings will take place at 8 p.m. each evening in the Joseph Bryan Jr. Auditorium, located in the Frank Family Science Center. 

    Wednesday, Sept. 17:
    REVES DE POUSSIERE (Dreams of Dust)
    Dir: Laurent Salgues. (France/Burkina Faso 2006), 86 minutes. The life of a village revolves around a gold mine and the promise of a better future.

    Saturday, Sept. 20:
    FRANTZ FANON: SA VIE, SON COMBAT, SON TRAVAIL
    (Frantz Fanon: His Life, His Struggle, His Work)
    Dir: Cheikh Djemaï. (Algeria/France 2004), 140 minutes. Testimonies from friends, family, and colleagues of the 20th century intellectual.

    Monday, Sept. 22:
    DELWENDE: LEVE-TOI ET MARCHE (Delwende)
    Dir: S. Pierre Yameogo. (Burkina Faso/France 2005), 69 minutes. A mother-daughter tale about the struggle for justice and women’s equality.

    Thursday, Sept. 25:
    DARATT
    Dir: Mahamat-Saleh Haroun. (France/Chad 2006), 96 minutes. Following the civil war in Chad, survivors seek justice and redemption.

    Sunday, Sept. 28:
    INDIGENES (Days of Glory)
    Dir: Rachid Bouchareb. (France/Morocco 2006), 120 minutes. The forgotten story of North Africans who fought to liberate France in World War II.
