The Avett Brothers are a non-traditional folk rock band comprised of brothers Seth and Scott Avett, and third member Bob Crawford. The Avett Brothers combine old-time country, bluegrass, punk, pop melodies, folk, rock and roll, honky tonk and ragtime to produce a sound described by The Washington Post as "post civil-war modern rock", and by other reviewers as "grungegrass". Their live performances showcase their use of three-party harmony and southern rock feel and are admired for being intense, energetic and soulful celebrations that entertain and enchant a wide, diverse audience. The October 31st performance will mark the band’s first appearance at War Memorial Auditorium since its sold-out show in September of 2007.
