PERFORMING ARTS THEATRE

The Fantasticks
May 15-May 24, 2008
Add Review/CommentThe Village of Clemmons and surrounding communities are in for a treat in May! Clemmons Community Theatre, in cooperation with New Hope Presbyterian Church, will present "The Fantasticks" which is a delightful story of life, love and relationships. Norm Birdsall, Artistic Director for CCT, says: "We have a wonderful and talented cast made up of people from Clemmons, Winston-Salem and High Point. I have given a bit of a twist to the characters actually called for in the script by using 'mothers' instead of 'fathers'. The musical talent of this cast is absolutely phenomenal and is being directed by Marie Denig who is no stranger to the stages in the area, both as a performer and a director." The show's original production off Broadway ran for 17,162 performances, becoming the world's longest -running musical, for 42 years. The poetic book and breezy, hummable score, including such familiar songs as "Try to Remember," helped make this show so durable. It is one of the few musicals to have been made available to other theatres before its original production closed. All performances are staged at New Hope Presbyterian Church, 2570 Harper Road, Clemmons.
