A unique opportunity to study with BELLY DANCE SUPERSTAR Zoe Jake right here in the TRIAD - the center of North Carolina! Also close to Virginia, New York, Tennessee, Kentucky and South Carolina. No need to fly to California or drive to Georgia! Save money. Save time. Workshops on the UNCG campus in a REAL dance studio with mirrors and wood floors. UNCG Campus at 1000 Spring Garden Street in Greensboro, NC 27403 in the HHP (Health & Human Performance) Building. Parking available in the Walker Street parking deck. Saturday, January 19th Workshop 1 - Exquisitely Slow Moves, 11 am - 1 pm All that ooey gooey stuff that is so fun and delicious to watch and do will be focused on in this class. we will work with the head down through to the fingertips. We will be focusing on super slow isolations, extreme undulations, and upper body technique. Hand work, elbow work, wrist work, posture, oblique strengthening (to get that horizontal pull that makes mayas and hip slides so exquisite), belly rolls with emphasis on stomach musculature. Workshop 2 - Choreography, 2:15 pm - 4:15 pm Sharp and slinky! Taking concepts from both classes, we will be interconnecting lightning quick popping moves with molasses slow slinky moves to create a dynamic choreography that will charm them all. Sunday, January 20th Workshop 3 - Pop & Lock Drilling and Stylization, 11 am - 1 pm Learn to mix the liquid smoothness of a snake with hits and stops that look almost inhuman. Drill fancy kicks and isolations to take pops & locks to the next level. This workshop will focus on ways to dance with passionate expression while maintaining control and grace. These concepts will be fully broken down using short combinations as examples so the student is able to get a real understanding of the mechanisms behind them. Workshop 4 - Semi-Private, 2:15 pm - 4:15 pm Work in a small class (relative to the size of the other workshops) with Zoe, getting one-on-one instruction and input. This is an advanced workshop, recommended for students who have taken Workshops 1 through 3, or are intermediate to advanced level dancers. PLEASE PLAN CAREFULLY.
