Lecture: The Art of Conflict in New Guinea

Add Review/CommentDr. Paul Roscoe, Professor & Chairman of the Dept. of Anthropology at the University of Maine will discuss the why art production in New Guinea was intense in some areas and almost non-existent in others. He argues that art was a political product, a form of signaling military strength that allowed social organizations to evolve and flourish. This lecture will be free and open to the public.
