Are you interested in history? Like to dress up? And are you between the ages of 10 and 13? Well, then the High Point Museum has something for you. This summer, the Museum will train young people to serve as Junior Interpreters in the historical park.

The idea is to provide local youth with an opportunity to serve the community through volunteer service while learning about our community’s heritage.

“Our Junior Interpreters are a wonderful addition to our programs,” Sarah DeYoung, Museum Educator, said. “They make our interpretation more interactive by providing more trained people to engage in dialogue and activity with our visitors. The program passes on our local heritage to young members of the community and makes them active participants in the process of preserving and sharing our history with others.”

Up to 20 participants will be selected. To receive an application or ask questions, please contact DeYoung at 883-3023 or sarah.deyoung@highpointnc.gov. Applications are due April 17. The ten day training course will be held July 19 – 23 and July 26-30 from 10 am to 4 pm at the High Point Museum.
