Exhibition: Andy Warhol Polaroids
June 6-September 19, 2010
Add Review/Comment
This show features approximately 300 Polaroids and 70 gelatin silver black-and-white prints pooled from the many donated to the Weatherspoon Art Museum, the Nasher Museum of Art, and the Ackland Art Museum in 2008 by the Andy Warhol Photographic Legacy Program, a division of the Andy Warhol Foundation. The donations were part of a larger gift made to 180 institutions nationwide by the Foundation in recognition of its 20th anniversary. A first-time collaboration between these three North Carolina-based university art museums, Big Shots: “Andy Warhol Polaroids†will feature some of the models, actors, sports heroes, and socialites who populated Warhol’s world. The selected photographs will also provide new insights into the artist’s working process as well as his use of the photographic medium.
"Big Shots: Andy Warhol Polaroids" will be the focus of the Weatherspoon's 7th Annual Summer Solstice Party on Friday, June 18.
