Audiences will be treated to the humor and nonsense of Al Capp’s classic cartoon-turned -musical Li’l Abner when the Page Playmakers present its first production in April. “Over 100 students will participate in this show,” commented Michael Parrish, Theatre Director at Page High School. “This show is filled with laughs from the beginning to the end. Anyone who attends is sure to spend quite a bit of time snickering at the antics of Mammy Yokum, Marryin’ Sam, and Li’l Abner and his lazy, good-for-nothing cronies. It’s truly a hoot—just don’t take it too seriously!” The show, a zany concoction about the clash between Dogpatch USA and Washington, DC actually includes some political satire that is still quite potent. The terrific score includes the showstopper "Jubilation T. Cornpone," as well as "Namely You," "If I Had My Druthers," "The Country's in the Very Best of Hands," "I'm Past My Prime," and the Sadie Hawkins Day Ballet (remember that Sadie Hawkins Day is the Dogpatch holiday when the women chase the men, and any fellow who gets caught gets hitched!)
