Hearing of the film’s legend, Greensboro’s own improv comedy troupe the Idiot Box decided to watch the film for themselves. The group had so much fun mocking the film, they decided to team up with the Carousel Luxury Cinemas for a trio of monthly screenings of “The Room.” Combining the film with live entertainment and audience participation, this unique experience promises to be the best way to enjoy what might possibly be the worst movie ever made.

The Idiot Box’s presentations of “The Room” will take place at 7:30 p.m. Thursday September 17, October 15 and November 19.

“It’s got all the makings of being a real big event that will grow,” says Steve Lesser, founder of the Idiot Box. “Especially since the audience is going to own it rather than a typical movie where you sit there and own it.”

Many believe that when Wiseau set out to make “The Room,” he intended to create a riveting domestic drama about infidelity that would launch his career as an actor. If that was the case, his efforts were less than successful. Both the script and acting are terrible, the camera constantly shifts out of focus, and characters and plot threads surface only to disappear with reckless abandon. Then there’s Wiseau’s thick accent, which makes many of his lines difficult to understand.
