Visitors will explore mysterious life, landforms and shipwrecks found deep within Earth’s final frontier during the Natural Science Center's special traveling exhibit, Extreme Deep: Mission to the Abyss! Highlighting the importance of geology, history, biology and chemistry in deep-sea exploration, Extreme Deep features many interactive components. Visitors can fly a remotely operated vehicle over a model of the Titanic's deck and manipulate Alvin's robotic arm to pick up lava rocks and clams from the sea floor while peering through a recreation of Alvin's four-inch view port window. In addition, Extreme Deep allows visitors the opportunity to walk along a dramatically recreated ocean environment, something that is impossible to do in the real ocean due to the crushing pressure of the water. This enthralling space features a variety of creatures, each depicted in full, lifelike detail. Many other interactives are featured in this fun-filled AND educational traveling exhibit.
