July 9, 2009
Add Review/Comment
You are invited to meet with the Triad Intentional Community Network (TICN) on Thursday, July 9 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of Presbyterian Church of the Covenant in Greensboro. Refreshments will be provided.
Newcomers are especially encouraged to come at 5:30 to receive an introduction to intentional communities and our group, but all are welcome at that time to visit and enjoy the fabulous company. Please consider joining us at 5:30 and bringing anything fresh from your garden, or perhaps extras from a farmers' market, to share with friends. Do you have veggies, fruit, herbs, flowers, or plants to share? If there should be any leftovers, they will be donated to the free Friday food pantry at the Hive.
Our regular meeting will begin promptly at 6:00. We have 2 speakers for July. Elaine Larson, with Wilkinson & Associates Real Estate, will speak on local housing availabilities for intentional communities --- something sizable, yet affordable for co-housing needs. She will explore possibilities for stimulus grants available locally and she will bring some multiple listing sheets. Angela Stewart, of Hand Up Home Ownership Initiative, Inc. (a non-profit organization established for the sole purpose of educating, training and assisting to make home ownership a reality for all who qualify regardless of current housing status).will speak about home buying and ownership. Her presentation will include tips about mortgage qualifications, documentation, home buying processes, and how to pay off mortgages in less time.
The Triad Intentional Communities Network (TICN) brings together people who are exploring paradigms that offer affordable alternatives to living in isolation or institutionalized settings, especially as we age. We usually meet monthly at the Presbyterian Church of the Covenant, a large building at the corner of Mendenhall and Walker. To find the fellowship hall, where we meet, park at the back of the church, in front of the entrance labeled "After Gateway". The door to the fellowship hall, which is to the left of the After Gateway portion of the building, and is across from the entrance to the church office, will be unlocked.
If you have questions, please call Gratia Wright at 336.358.6008 (voice mail) or Carolyn Biggerstaff at 336.852.6272 (home office). The draft agenda for the July 9 meeting is attached in "word" format and copied below for your convenience.
