Community involvement can be a vital catalyst for great achievement. A new speaker series sponsored by Action Greensboro will kick off Wednesday, June 24 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Empire Room in downtown Greensboro. The series, called “Getting Things Done in Greensboro” hopes to engage the entire community in a dialogue and better position Greensboro to come out of this recession strong. The series’ topics will focus on how to move our economy forward. The first in the four-part series will focus on local government leadership and will feature a panel of distinguished leaders from across the state: Mike Smith, dean of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Government Harry Jones, county manager, Mecklenburg County John Alexander, retired, Center for Creative Leadership Ruth DeHoog, head of the political science department at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, will serve as moderator for the first discussion. The program will run from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and will be broadcast live online.
