Industries of the Blind Employee Yard Sale to benefit The Human Race Industries of the Blind is holding an Employee Yard Sale Saturday, March 3rd from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Proceeds for this sale will go towards their participation in this year’s Human Race and supports the employee’s fundraising goal of $38,500 for creation an in-house medical center with part-time. IOB employees chose this fundraising project to address the #1 obstacle they face daily – lack of timely transportation to and from health care providers and loss of earnings associated with the needed time off. Blindness is often caused or accompanied by other health factors including diabetes and high blood pressure, which need constant monitoring. Having an on-site health caregiver and advocate will greatly improve the quality of the aging employees’ lives and increase the availability of first-line health care. Monies raised not only support the Industries of the Blind project, but also support the Volunteer Center of Greensboro who matches volunteers with the needs of non-profits. All contributions are tax-deductible. A variety of items will be available including electronics, clothes, toys, household furniture, books, CDs and collectibles. Come early for FREE coffee and purchase a selection from our Bake Sale table. Surplus goods manufactured and assembled by IOB employees will also be available including Army brown t-shirts, physical fitness pants, moisture-wicking t-shirts, mops, brooms and other janitorial and office supplies.
