Bring your family to Elsewhere Artist Collaborative's Little Green Thumbs event in downtown Greensboro. Grow closer as a family while gardening in our back alley with the help of local plant professionals and seasoned Urban Green veterans.

Thrill to a touch of the wild through our urban petting zoo, brought to you by the Natural Science Center of Greensboro. Lastly, engage your child in creative reuse through our sustainable toys workshop. We will be making houses, little worlds, telescopes and games out of kitchen recyclables.

Elsewhere's "Urban Green" is more than just growing plants; it is growing our community.

Within the urban garden, tomatoes, peas and eggplants hang from repurposed plastic soda bottles, earthen clay walls support visitors and raised beds with the help of reused glass bottles and a bamboo arbor shelters people and plants alike from the sweltering sun.

Additionally, there is a large-scale vermicomposting bin that sits behind glass, where the worms and their function of transforming food waste into rich, dark soil is on display for all to see. Lastly, the garden enjoys plentiful water, thanks to an integrated rain catchment system that routinely fills three 55-gallon barrels with every storm.
