Weaver Academy for the Performing and Visual Arts is turning the tables on William Shakespeare with their production of Twelfth Night. This production, set in Italy during the early 60s, is exciting because it’s completely different from what you would have seen during the Sixteenth-Century; it’s all women! “It’s very challenging dealing with this script of crossed-genders and identities, but these ladies are up for it!” says director Leanne Macklin. Sophomore Hayley Atwell who has taken on the role of Sir Toby Belch comments, “It’s harder to play a man than a women; you have to look at men more closely and do more research.” Macklin is once again joined by New York set designer Kyle Dixon and has had the pleasure of working with a student costume designer Arielle Lawrence.
