John Foy Piano Restorations in collaboration with Elsewhere present Vexations. Over 20 area students and musicians will perform Erik Satie's Vexations, a one-page piece of music, 840 times in a reproduction of John Cage's 1963 performance. Each musician will play for 1 hour, counting the number of times they play the motif. The event will begin at 8pm Friday night and run approximately 28 hours. Elsewhere will extend it's hours through out the event. We will be charging $1 admission, but listeners will be reimbursed 5 cents for every 20 minutes that they listen just as in the 1963 performance. The performance will be broadcast on the street via Radio FM through the facade speakers and recorded in order to be available for download on John Foy and Elsewhere's websites. John Foy will host a launch party from 7-9pm Friday night with a special 7:30 performance by UNCG music professor John Salmon. John Foy will also have a piano street side for visitors to play. The performance will be live streamed on the web.
