The concert will feature the Chapel Choir, University Singers and other selected solo and ensemble musicians and is the culmination of a study of choral music in the American tradition from early Colonial times to the present.

The University Singers will concentrate on the music of Aaron Copland’s “Old American Songs.” The Chapel Choir will present anthems by various American composers including Mary McDonald, Allen Pote and Martin Shaw.

Both ensembles will join together for the concluding sectional and sing Randall Thompson's “Alleluia,” Frank Tichelli's “Earth Song,” Glen Koponen's arrangement of Aaron Copland's adaptation of “Zion's Walls,” and two spirituals, “Precious Lord Take My Hand” and “Ev'ry Time I Feel the Spirit.”
