A&T University Jazz Ensemble featuring Delfeayo Marsalis

The University Jazz Ensemble will honor the late trombonist J.J. Johnson. Johnson who is called the Fastest Trombone Player Alive, made an indelible mark on the history of jazz when, with the help of Dizzy Gillespie, he reconfigured trombone playing for the be-bop era, playing linear progressions, minimizing vibrato, and producing a lucid, controlled, and clean sound. Joining the Jazz Ensemble is guest artist Delfeayo Marsalis, a member of the famous Marsalis jazz family. While a gifted trombonist whom critics have termed "the most original modern voice of his generation", and is prolific and better known for his work as a producer of acoustic jazz recordings.
