The Wake Forest University Theatre will continue its “Season of Scandal” with Steve Martin’s adaptation of The Underpants on February 13. The original was written by Carl Sternheim. The Underpants will be directed by John E. R. Friedenberg, Director of the University Theatre. Theobald is mortified after his wife’s underpants fall down in public, as they wait to see the king passing by in a parade. Convinced that the mishap will ruin him, jeopardizing his job and reputation, he is blind to how the incident enlightens his wife Louise to how desperately bored she is with her life. The Underpants is an outrageous, over-the-top look at society, politics and sexism.
