The lineup begins with Forsyth Country Day, led by freshmen phenom PG Tyler Lewis, taking on Page and 6’9” 215-pound power forward Julius Brooks. The next game, Raleigh’s Ravenscroft High School vs. Northern Guilford, will feature one of the top prep players in the nation in 6’ 9” forward Ryan Kelly. Kelly, who is headed to Duke, will look to lead Ravenscroft past a Northern Guilford squad led by the inside-outside combination of forward Jacob Lawson and guard Jonathan Frye. The next game on the slate (2:30) will feature Greensboro Day, led by point guard Jay Lewis and 6’ 9” center Javan Mitchell, taking on Glenn. Up next is national power Oak Hill which features Oklahoma recruit Keith “Tiny” Gallon, Virginia Tech recruit Lamont Jones, Chasen Campbell, Bryon Allen, Glenn Bryant and top-15 ranked junior Pe'Shon Howard. Facing off against the Warriors will be Christ School led by Duke recruit Marshall Plumlee, South Carolina bound Lakeem Jackson and Harvard recruit Dee Giger. The 6:00 game will pit Word of God’s John Wall and C.J. Leslie (N.C. State recruit) versus Ragsdale and 6’5” wing player Jay Canty, who has committed to High Point University. The slate’s final tilt will match up Southern Durham versus Patterson School and its talented trio of Hassan Whiteside (Marshall University recruit), Leek Leek and Nik Garcia. In its first year (2003), the North Carolina Scholastic Classic brought future NBA superstar LeBron James to the Triad, drawing a crowd of 16,220, a North Carolina state record for a high school basketball game. Other future NBA stars who have appeared in the Classic include Kevin Durant (Oklahoma City Thunder) and Josh Smith (Atlanta Hawks).
