The Mental Health Association in Greensboro will hold its fifth annual Survivors of Suicide Day. The event will take place at the Wesley Long Community Hospital from 12:30 – 3pm in Classroom 1. Enter by way of the main hospital entrance, and follow posted signs to the classroom on the second floor. Each year community members affected by suicide gather to remember and celebrate the lives of their friends and loved ones, and together watch a national teleconference. The broadcast features a panel of survivors and experienced mental health professionals, who offer emotional support and information about resources for healing after the loss of a loved one to suicide. Survivors of Suicide Day was created by U.S. Senate resolution, through the efforts of Sen. Harry Reid of Nevada, who lost his father to suicide.
