    On Nov. 10 at 11 a.m., the U.S. Green Building Council will recognize the Proximity Hotel and the Print Works Bistro as being the first in the hospitality industry to attain the highest rating, Platinum, with the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program. The 45-minute ceremony will feature Marc Heisterkamp, USGBC's Manager of Corporate and Investment Real Estate, Lynn Minges, Executive Director of the NC Division of Tourism, and others. The public is invited. Reservations are not required.

    A sustainable practices symposium will follow at 2 p.m. and feature a 3.5-hour discussion and tour about the design and building process of the Proximity Hotel and Print Works Bistro using the LEED criteria.
